When a relatively low bridge and high cheekbones occur together, nose support and lower-frame clearance need to be assessed at the same time. Actual bridge geometry, wearing height, vertex distance and frame depth matter more than a marketing label.
01 · BRIDGE SUPPORT
First establish stable support on the nose
If the bridge does not match the actual nose shape, the frame can sit low or move easily.
A lower wearing position naturally brings the lower rim closer to the cheekbones and increases the chance of contact during smiling.
With metal frames, check the nose pads; with plastic frames, check the real internal bridge geometry.
02 · FACE DISTANCE
There needs to be appropriate space between the lenses and the face
If the frame sits too close, eyelash contact and cheek contact can occur together.
Metal nose pads can often adjust vertex distance to a degree, while plastic frames depend more heavily on bridge and frame construction.
Changing vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt also changes the optical wearing condition, so simply pushing the frame forward is not the only solution.
03 · LOW BRIDGE FIT
A Low Bridge Fit design can help some wearers
Some frames alter bridge geometry, pad position or front angle to improve support on a lower bridge and reduce interference with higher cheekbones.
These designs can be helpful when they match the wearer.
However, Low Bridge Fit and Asian Fit are brand-dependent labels rather than universal standards, so actual construction and fit still need to be checked.
04 · LENS HEIGHT
Check that the vertical depth and lower contour are not excessive
Even with a good bridge fit, a very deep lower rim can still contact the cheekbones.
For people with shorter facial vertical dimensions or more prominent cheekbones, not only B dimension but also the exact lower contour can make a large difference.
05 · ACTUAL FIT
Judge the frame on the real face and during movement
After putting the frame on, do more than look straight ahead: move the head, smile and speak normally.
Confirm that the frame remains supported on the nose, does not contact the eyelashes or cheeks, and maintains a stable wearing height.
SOLUTION GUIDE
Solutions at a glance
Check bridge or nose-pad support first.
Check vertex distance and front position.
Check B dimension and lower-rim contour.
Judge the actual bridge construction and wearing result rather than the label.
GLANOS FITTING CHECK
GLANOS fitting check order
- Front
Check vertical depth and lower-rim contour. - Nose pads / bridge
Create a stable height and face-to-frame distance. - Width
Make sure the frame is laterally stable. - Dynamic check
Test eyelash, cheekbone and cheek clearance during expressions and movement.
CAUTION
Do not reduce frame selection to “Korean = Asian Fit”
Within any population, nose height and width, cheekbone position, face width and ear position vary widely. The final criterion is actual compatibility between the wearer and the frame, not ethnicity or a product label.
