Key point first

A deeper behind-ear curve can reduce forward movement, but more wrap is not automatically better. Comfort must be balanced with bridge fit, frame width and temple length.

01 · HOLD

Rear support helps limit forward movement

When the temple tip follows the contour behind the ear naturally, it can help reduce forward slipping.

This supports positional stability during normal daily movement.

But rear support should not be responsible for the whole fit.

02 · TOO MUCH BEND

Too much wrap increases pressure behind the ear

If the bend is too deep or the curve radius is too tight, the temple can pull downward or forward on the ear area.

It may feel extremely secure at first, but pain or deep marks can develop over time.

03 · FRONT PROBLEM

Rear tightening can compensate for an unresolved front problem

If the bridge does not fit, the nose pads slip or the frame is too loose laterally, tightening only behind the ears can reduce movement temporarily.

The front-contact and overall-balance problems remain, so this is not a good fitting solution.

04 · TEMPLE LENGTH

A short temple makes a deep bend more uncomfortable

If the temple is short and bends deeply before the ear, pressure tends to concentrate in a smaller area.

Even with adequate length, the wrong bend position and curve can cause discomfort.

Temple length, ear position and curve should be considered together.

05 · BALANCE

Use only the amount of rear support that is needed

If the glasses remain reasonably stable during normal head movement without persistent pain or strong pulling behind the ears, the support is closer to an appropriate level.

Good fitting is not about locking the frame behind the ears; it is about different contact points sharing their roles.

SOLUTION GUIDE

Solutions at a glance

Pain or pressure behind the ear

Check bend depth and curve.

Deep marks remain after removing the glasses

Check whether pressure is concentrated.

The ear feels pulled

Check temple length and bend position.

The frame does not slip but the temples also feel tight

Recheck frame width and the whole fitting.

GLANOS FITTING CHECK

GLANOS fitting check order

  1. Front
    Check the frame’s reference condition.
  2. Nose pads / bridge
Check front support and the cause of slipping.
  3. Width
Make sure the temples are not over-tight.
  4. Temple bend
Use only the amount of behind-ear support required.

CAUTION

Do not fit glasses as if locking them behind the ears

A good fit is not created by strong rear grip. The nose, frame width, temples and rear curve each contribute to keeping the wearing position stable.
