Key point first

A good plastic-frame bridge creates stable surface contact while maintaining appropriate wearing height, vertex distance, everyday positional stability and long-wear comfort.

01 · CONTACT

Stable surface contact should form on the nose

The bridge should follow the width and slope of the nose rather than pressing hard at a single edge.

If the real contact area is too small, the same front load can produce stronger pressure and marks.

02 · HEIGHT

The frame should sit at an appropriate height

If bridge shape does not match the nose, the frame can sit too high or too low.

Check the eye-to-lens relationship and, with progressive lenses, the fitting height.

03 · VERTEX DISTANCE

Front-back clearance also needs to be appropriate

A poorly matched bridge can make the frame sit lower or bring the front closer to the face.

If lashes touch the lenses or the cheeks push the frame when smiling, check bridge geometry together with vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt.

04 · STABILITY

The position should not change dramatically during normal movement

If the frame repeatedly slides down with mild everyday movement, bridge contact or the rest of the fitting may be insufficient.

Do not compensate for a bridge mismatch by overtightening frame width or the behind-ear bend.

05 · COMFORT

Stability and comfort must both be present

A frame that stays in place but causes persistent focal nose pain is not a good bridge fit.

Check for concentrated pressure and whether long-wear discomfort becomes excessive.

SOLUTION GUIDE

Solutions at a glance

Does it contact the nose naturally?

Check inner curvature and surface contact.

Does only one edge press strongly?

Check pressure concentration.

Is the wearing height appropriate?

Check the eye-to-lens position.

Are lash and cheek interference minimal?

Check vertex distance and tilt.

Does it remain stable during normal movement?

Check bridge support and total fitting.

GLANOS FITTING CHECK

GLANOS fitting check order

  1. Front
Set the frame itself to a proper reference state.
  2. Bridge
Check surface contact and wearing height.
  3. Width
Provide side support without excessive pressure.
  4. Temple bend
Limit forward movement only as much as needed.

CAUTION

A major bridge mismatch is difficult to solve by fitting alone

Adhesive pads or professional added nose-pad modifications may help in some cases, but feasibility depends on frame structure, material and available working space, and they can also change wearing height. Frame selection remains important.
