Key point first

Even a high bridge does not guarantee stability. Poor bridge width or curvature, weak contact, skin conditions, excessive frame width, front load and inadequate rear support can all cause slipping.

01 · BRIDGE WIDTH

A high nose can still slip if the bridge does not fit

If a plastic bridge is too wide or its inner curve does not match the nose, it may fail to create enough stable contact.

The frame can appear to sit on the nose while actually touching at only a few points.

02 · NOSE SLOPE

Nose slope and pad or bridge shape still matter

Even on a high bridge, poor matching between the side slope of the nose and the pad or inner bridge shape can reduce support.

For metal frames, inspect pad angle and surface contact; for plastic frames, inspect inner bridge curvature.

03 · SKIN & SLIPPING

Skin and pad-surface condition can contribute

Sweat, sebum and cosmetics can change friction at the contact surface.

In hot conditions a previously stable frame may feel more slippery, so cleaning, pad material and total fitting should be considered together.

04 · FRAME WIDTH

Weak side support allows more movement

If the frame is too wide, the temples may provide too little lateral support.

A high bridge does not prevent front-back movement or downward slip, so overall width and behind-ear support still matter.

05 · FRONT LOAD

Higher front load can challenge any nose shape

A large frame is not automatically heavy, but lens and frame size, material and design can increase front load and shift the center of mass forward.

Nose shape alone cannot control all of that load and movement, so the whole fitting must be considered.

SOLUTION GUIDE

Solutions at a glance

The bridge is wide or unstable

Check real bridge-to-nose contact.

The pad does not match the nose slope

Check pad angle and surface contact.

It is worse in hot weather

Check pad surface, material and skin condition.

The whole frame feels loose

Check width and behind-ear fitting.

GLANOS FITTING CHECK

GLANOS fitting check order

  1. Front
    Check the frame reference state.
  2. Nose pads / bridge
Look at contact and curvature, not height alone.
  3. Width
    Check temple side support.
  4. Temple bend
Limit forward movement only as much as needed.

CAUTION

“A high nose fits any frame” is not true

A frame is stabilized by several contact and support points: the nose, frame width, temples and behind-ear fit all work together.
