Nose height is only one fitting variable. Stable wear on a low bridge is possible when bridge or nose-pad structure, actual contact area, frame width, front load and temple fitting work together.
01 · NOSE HEIGHT
Nose height is only one of several conditions
A relatively low bridge can make some frames sit lower or closer to the face.
This is particularly noticeable with one-piece plastic bridges designed around a higher support point.
But a bridge that matches the wearer, or an adjustable nose-pad structure, can still provide stable wear.
02 · NOSE WIDTH
Width and slope matter as much as height
A lower bridge can still create broad, stable contact if its width and slope match the frame.
Conversely, a high bridge can fit poorly if bridge width or curvature is wrong.
03 · CONTACT AREA
Where and how much the frame contacts the nose matters most
On metal frames, the pads should create stable surface contact that follows the nose.
On plastic frames, the inner bridge curve and actual points of contact are crucial.
Real contact location and area are more direct fitting information than nose height alone.
04 · FRAME WIDTH
An overly wide frame can also slip
Even when the nose fit is good, excessive frame and temple width can reduce lateral support.
This can allow more front-back movement and make downward slipping easier.
05 · FRONT LOAD
Front load and center of mass also matter
Lens size, material and design, together with frame size and thickness, affect front load and center of mass.
A heavier or more forward-biased front can place more demand on nose and rear support.
When this combines with a low bridge, slipping may become more noticeable, but there is still no single cause.
