Depending on its construction, a nose pad may be designed to move slightly. But excessive looseness or repeated rotation in the same direction calls for checking the screw, mount, pad arm and real contact on the nose.
01 · MOVING PAD
Some nose pads are designed to move
Many metal-frame nose pads can rotate or pivot slightly so they can follow the slope of the nose.
The two pads do not need to point in exactly the same direction when the glasses are off the face.
What matters is whether they align naturally and contact the nose stably when worn.
02 · SCREW
The screw may be loose
Screw-mounted pads can loosen through repeated use and external force.
If a pad moves much more freely than before or wobbles, inspect the screw and wear at the joint.
Not all pads use the same mounting method, so the correct check depends on the structure.
03 · PAD MOUNT
The pad mount itself can deform
Frames may use pad boxes, screw mounts, insert-type mounts or other structures.
If the mount spreads or deforms, the pad may move beyond its intended range or fail to stay in a useful position.
Inspect the mount before assuming the pad alone needs replacement.
04 · PAD ARM
Could the pad arm be twisted?
If a pad repeatedly turns in one direction, the arm angle may be the real cause.
A twisted arm can force the pad to rotate when it contacts the nose or make only one edge touch.
05 · CONTACT
Judge the wearing result, not rotation alone
If a pad moves slightly but settles into broad, stable contact without pain or excessive marks, the movement may be normal.
If one edge presses, one side floats or the pad wobbles excessively, inspect the fitting and mount.

Some pad designs need a small amount of movement to conform to the nose. Stable contact when worn matters more than eliminating all motion.
