Nose pads are best replaced based on actual condition and comfort rather than a fixed time interval. Damage, deformation, surface changes and persistent slipping are useful signals.
01 · DISCOLORATION
Heavy discoloration is a reason to inspect the pad
Clear or translucent pads can become yellowed or cloudy with time.
Discoloration alone does not prove a functional problem, but it can indicate long use or accumulated contamination, so inspect the surface, elasticity and damage as well.
02 · HARDENING
Check the pad if the contact feel has changed
Soft pads, including silicone-type products, can change in elasticity or surface feel after long use depending on formulation and environment.
If they feel markedly harder or more slippery than before and cleaning does not restore them, replacement may be reasonable.
03 · SLIPPING
If cleaning does not fix slipping, inspect both pad and fitting
Sebum and cosmetics can change the friction characteristics of the pad surface.
If the frame still slips more than before after cleaning, inspect pad condition but also check temple spread and other fitting changes.
04 · DAMAGE
Cracked or deformed pads should be replaced
Tears, cracks or damaged edges can irritate the skin.
If a pad repeatedly rotates abnormally or the mount feels loose, inspect the screw, pad box and pad arm as well as the pad itself.
05 · FIT AFTER REPLACEMENT
Refit after installing new pads
Even pads sold as the same size can differ slightly in thickness, curvature and material.
After replacement, recheck wearing height, vertex distance, contact area and left-right balance.
SOLUTION GUIDE
Solutions at a glance
Replacement is recommended.
Check pad condition and total fitting.
Check function and hygiene together.
Inspect the screw, pad box and pad arm.
Check pad aging and fitting changes together.
GLANOS FITTING CHECK
GLANOS fitting check order
- Front
Check overall frame alignment. - Nose pads
Check new pad thickness, curvature, angle and contact. - Width
Check side support. - Temple bend
Refine the final wearing position.
CAUTION
Do not replace pads simply because a certain amount of time has passed
The rate of change depends on material, environment and care. Judge replacement by actual damage, surface condition and comfort.
