01 · CONTACT AREA

A broader contact area can help distribute pressure

With the same front load, an excessively small contact area can increase the pressure felt by the skin.

Within the limits of the nose shape, broader contact can help distribute pressure and improve stability.

02 · PERFECT CONTACT

Perfect 100% contact is not required

The nose is curved rather than flat, and the skin and soft tissues move.

The goal is not a pad that is mechanically sealed to the entire surface, but natural contact without a single edge carrying most of the load.

03 · PAD CURVE

Pad curvature also matters

Flat pads and curved pads contact the nose differently.

Even a large pad may touch only partly if its curvature does not match the nose.

04 · FRONT LOAD

Contact matters more when front load is greater

As the total load from the lenses and frame front increases, the pressure transmitted through the pads can also increase.

If contact is too small or uneven, nose marks and discomfort can become more noticeable.

05 · MATERIAL

Changing material alone may not solve the problem

Silicone-type pads can feel softer and have different friction characteristics, but poor angle or curvature can still leave edge pressure.

Check contact and fitting first, then choose pad size and material.

CAUTION

Larger pads are not always better

A large pad that does not match the nose can make the contact position less comfortable. Actual fit, angle and contact matter more than size alone.
