Good fitting is not simply a frame that does not slip. Comfort, stability, lens position, and pressure/load distribution need to stay in balance.

01 · COMFORT

Comfort alone does not make a good fit

A very loose frame may reduce pressure.

But if it keeps sliding down or moving side to side, the lens position moves with it.

With higher prescriptions or progressive lenses, changes in wearing position can affect vision more noticeably, so comfort and positional stability should be checked together.

02 · STABILITY

A frame that stays put is not automatically well fitted

Strong pressure at the temples or behind the ears can keep glasses from moving.

Aggressive nose-pad adjustment can also reduce slipping.

But this kind of fixation may create pain or marks during long wear, so glasses should be supported only as firmly as necessary.

03 · WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION

Weight and pressure should not concentrate in one place

Most front load is supported at the nose, while the temples and ear bends help control side-to-side and forward-back movement and contribute to overall stability.

Too much load and pressure at the nose can cause marks or pain, while excessive clamping at the temples and ears creates its own discomfort.

A good fit lets each contact point do its job without excessive pressure at any one location.

04 · LENS POSITION

The lenses should remain stable in front of the eyes

Fitting is not only about how the frame feels.

Wearing height, vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt should remain stable so the lenses stay in their intended working position.

If the frame keeps sliding or tilting, the relationship between the eyes and lenses changes too.

05 · BALANCE

Good fitting is ultimately about balance

A frame that is too loose loses stability, while one that is too tight loses comfort.

The goal is a frame that does not shift significantly during normal activity and does not create excessive pressure at specific points.

    Confirm the frame itself is in a proper reference state.
  2. Nose pads / bridge
    Check wearing height and nose support.
  3. Width
    Check side support and pressure.
  4. Temple bend
    Add only the rear support needed for stability.

CAUTION

Do not make “no slipping” the only goal

Overtightening the frame just to eliminate slipping can create other problems. Stability, comfort and lens position need to be balanced together.
