01 · VERTEX DISTANCE
Are the lenses too close to your eyes?
The most direct cause is insufficient space between the back surface of the lens and the eye.
This wearing distance is commonly described as vertex distance.
When it is too short, eyelashes can touch the inner lens surface during blinking.
Repeated lash or oil marks are a reason to check actual wearing distance.
02 · NOSE PAD HEIGHT
Are the nose pads positioning the frame too close to the face?
Nose pads can alter wearing height and the frame-to-face distance to a degree.
Poor pad position or spacing can bring the frame closer than intended.
Moving it too far forward can also change stability and height.
Adjust overall balance, not distance alone.
03 · NOSE PAD ANGLE
Nose-pad angle can change the frame position
If pad angle does not match the nose, the front may sit closer or tilt unexpectedly.
If lashes touch only one part of the lens, check pad angle and pantoscopic tilt together.
04 · PANTOSCOPIC TILT
Pantoscopic tilt also matters
Frames normally sit with some tilt rather than perfectly vertical.
If tilt does not suit the face and eye position, the upper or lower lens can sit relatively closer to the eye.

Is the frame sitting too high?
Wearing height can change lash clearance.
A frame that sits too high can bring the lens closer to the lashes.
Consider eye position and optical-center relationship when changing height.
06 · LENS CURVE / FACE FORM
Lens curve and face form affect available space
Lens curve and frame face-form/wrap alter the space around the eyes, especially at the lens periphery.
For ordinary spectacles, first check nose pads, tilt and frame position.
07 · FACIAL STRUCTURE
The same frame sits differently on different faces
Prominent eyes, cheek structure and nose shape can change eye-to-lens distance.
Fit should be judged on the actual wearer.
