01 · TEMPLE LENGTH
Does the temple length match the ear position?
A temple that is too short may bend before the ear and press the upper ear.
An excessively long temple can make correct bend placement difficult or leave unnecessary length behind the ear.
Actual contact position matters more than the printed number.
02 · TEMPLE BEND
Does the bend follow the shape of the ear?
A bend that starts too early can press the upper ear; too deep a bend can wrap the rear ear too strongly.
A bend that starts too late may not support the frame well.
Check both where and how much it bends.
03 · TEMPLE THICKNESS
Is a thick temple pressing only one area?
Plastic-frame temples are often thicker and wider than metal ones.
A broad surface can distribute pressure, but a poor shape match can also press a large area continuously.
Edges or protrusions can create local pain.
04 · ACETATE ADJUSTMENT
Acetate can be shaped for the area behind the ear
Controlled professional heating can modify the temple-end curve to some degree.
This can reduce pressure or improve stability.
Avoid home heating with a hair dryer or hot water because excess heat or force can damage the frame.

If only one ear hurts, compare ear heights
Left and right ear heights can differ slightly.
Identical temple bends may create uneven pressure.
Check frame twist, ear height and bend position together.

Incorrect face width can affect the area behind the ears
A narrow frame can compress the temples and transmit that force rearward.
A frame that is too wide may lack stable support behind the ears.
Check total width and the full temple path.
07 · FRONT WEIGHT
Is a heavy front being held too strongly behind the ears?
A thick acetate front or large lenses can increase front weight.
If the rear bend is made too deep to stop slipping, pressure can increase.
Check bridge support and frame width too.
08 · MATERIAL DEFORMATION
Was it comfortable before but painful later?
Acetate and some plastics can change shape with heat, pressure and storage.
If a once-comfortable frame begins pressing one ear, check for deformation.
