There is no single bend point that fits everyone. The temple should form a natural curve around the ear without concentrating pressure at one point.
01 · BEND START
Look at where the ear begins and the path of the temple
The temple passes over the ear and gradually continues into the rear curve.
If it drops sharply before reaching the ear, it can press on the upper ear or side of the head.
If it travels far beyond the ear with almost no useful curve and the frame moves forward easily, bend position and temple length may need review.
02 · CURVE
The goal is not one sharp bend
A good temple fit is closer to a smooth curve distributed over several points along the ear contour.
A sudden hook at one point can concentrate pressure in a small area.
The required curve varies with frame design and material.
03 · DOWNWARD PRESSURE
Too much downward pressure causes discomfort
Deeply bending the temple to stop slipping can initially feel very secure.
Over longer wear it can create pain or a pulling sensation behind the ear.
Glasses are not meant to hang from the ears.
04 · FRONT-BACK HOLD
Rear support should only limit forward movement as needed
The temple bend helps reduce forward migration and stabilize the final wearing position.
It should not be used to compensate aggressively for an incorrect bridge, nose-pad fit or frame width.
05 · LEFT-RIGHT DIFFERENCE
The two bends may need to differ
Ear height, front-back position and the contour behind each ear may not be identical.
So the two temple curves do not need to be mechanically identical as long as the final result is comfortable and stable.
SOLUTION GUIDE
Solutions at a glance
Check pressure on the upper ear.
Check whether the curve is smooth.
Check whether rear support is sufficient.
Check bend depth and pressure.
Adjust each side to the wearer rather than forcing symmetry.
GLANOS FITTING CHECK
GLANOS fitting check order
- Front
Check frame alignment first. - Nose pads / bridge
Stabilize the front wearing position. - Width
Check that the temples run naturally toward the ears. - Temple bend
Finally shape a smooth curve that follows the ear contour.
CAUTION
Do not solve slipping with the temple bend alone
If the front fit or frame width is wrong, making the rear bend tighter leaves the original problem in place and only increases pressure.
