Key point first

Changing nose-pad height or pad-arm position can affect not only wearing height but also left-right level, vertex distance and lens position.

01 · WEARING HEIGHT

Nose-pad height affects how high the frame sits

If the point where the pads support the nose changes, the frame can move up or down.

This also changes the relative position of the lens centers and the eyes.

02 · LEFT-RIGHT LEVEL

Different pad heights can affect frame tilt

If one pad supports the frame higher than the other, the two lens heights and overall tilt can change.

When one side looks higher, compare pad height, angle and contact along with the alignment of the frame front.

03 · VERTEX DISTANCE

Height adjustment can also change front-back distance

Depending on the direction in which the pad arms are moved, the frame can come closer to or farther from the face.

If eyelashes or cheeks begin to contact after a height adjustment, recheck vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt as well.

04 · LENS POSITION

This is especially important with progressive lenses

With progressive lenses, it matters which vertical part of the lens the eye looks through.

If pad adjustment changes wearing height, it can alter the original fitting height, so any change in vision should be rechecked.

05 · PRESSURE

Do not increase pressure just to raise the frame

Pushing the pads too far inward to raise the glasses can increase pressure on both sides of the nose.

Wearing height, nose contact, vertex distance and long-wear comfort should be balanced together.

SOLUTION GUIDE

Solutions at a glance

The frame sits too low

Check support position, spacing and angle.

Only one lens sits higher

Compare the two pads and the front alignment.

Eyelashes touch after adjustment

Check vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt.

Progressive-lens vision changed

Recheck wearing height.

GLANOS FITTING CHECK

GLANOS fitting check order

  1. Front
    Confirm frame reference alignment.
  2. Nose pads
Check height, angle and any vertex-distance change together.
  3. Width
    Check lateral support.
  4. Temple bend
    Stabilize the final wearing position.

CAUTION

Higher is not automatically better

The relationship between the eyes and lenses, vertex distance, nose pressure and overall balance all need to be appropriate.
