Key point first

Long-term discomfort often reflects accumulated small changes in the temples, nose pads, hinges, material and wearing environment rather than one sudden failure.

01 · TEMPLE SPREAD

Temples can gradually spread with repeated use

Every time glasses are put on or removed, the temples open outward.

One-handed removal or repeatedly wearing glasses on top of the head can apply larger-than-normal forces to one or both sides.

Over time, frame width and temple direction can change and the frame can feel looser.

02 · NOSE PAD

Nose pads do not stay exactly the same

Silicone pads can harden, discolor and change surface condition.

Pad arms can also shift from repeated use and external force, changing nose contact and wearing height.

03 · HINGE

Hinges and screws can develop play

Because hinges are opened and closed repeatedly, screws can loosen and the hinge itself can develop wear or play.

If one temple moves much more freely or wobbles, inspect the hinge.

04 · ACETATE

Plastic frames are affected by heat and pressure

Acetate can change shape under high temperature and sustained pressure.

Leaving glasses in a hot car or near a strong heat source can increase the chance of deformation.

05 · USER CHANGE

The wearer and environment can change too

Weight change, hairstyle, wearing time, work and activity can change where the same frame contacts or presses.

Even when the frame itself has not changed dramatically, the wearer’s circumstances can make it feel different.

SOLUTION GUIDE

Key points at a glance

The frame is looser than before

Check the temples and hinges.

Nose marks or slipping changed

Check the nose pads or bridge.

The frame tilts to one side

Check front and temple alignment.

A plastic frame changed shape

Check heat exposure and deformation.

GLANOS FITTING CHECK

GLANOS fitting check order

  1. Front
    Check overall alignment and damage.
  2. Nose pads / bridge
    Check contact and wear.
  3. Width
    Check temple spread.
  4. Temple bend
    Recheck rear support.

CAUTION

Old glasses do not automatically need replacement

Refitting or replacing wear parts can restore comfort in many cases. But if the hinge, frame or lens retention is significantly damaged, repairability and safety should be assessed and replacement may be more appropriate.
