Key point first

Fitting can improve many problems, but frame size, bridge design, and excessive front or lens weight can create limits that adjustment alone cannot remove.

01 · ADJUSTABLE

Some variables can be changed through fitting

Metal frames allow relatively fine adjustment of nose-pad position and angle, temple spread and rear bends.

Plastic frames can also be adjusted at the temples and rear bends depending on material and construction.

Mild tilt, looseness and pressure often improve with fitting.

02 · FRAME SIZE

Fitting cannot completely change the actual frame size

Forcing a frame that is far too narrow to stay widely spread can place continuous stress on the hinges and front.

Forcing an overly large frame much narrower can reduce stability and distort its shape.

When the size mismatch is large, frame selection is the more fundamental issue.

03 · BRIDGE DESIGN

Bridge design can also be a structural limit

If a plastic bridge is substantially mismatched to the nose, temple fitting alone may not solve the problem.

Adhesive pads or custom nose-pad modifications can help selected frames, but not every frame is suitable and structure, material and machining allowance need to be considered.

04 · LENS WEIGHT

Lens and front weight can also limit fitting

Very large or thick lenses, or a heavy frame front, do not become lighter simply by tightening the temples.

A high prescription does not automatically mean high weight, so lens size, material, design, thickness and frame construction should be considered together.

05 · RESELECT

Choosing a different frame can be the better solution

The purpose of fitting is not to force every frame onto every face.

When the required correction exceeds the safe or practical adjustment range, choosing a frame better matched to the face and lens requirements can be more stable.

SOLUTION GUIDE

Key points at a glance

Problems often improved by fitting

Mild tilt, nose-pad angle, temple pressure, rear bends and minor looseness from use.

Problems that may require another frame

Large mismatch in overall width or a bridge that is fundamentally unsuitable.

The front is excessively heavy

Review lens size, material, thickness and frame selection.

Repeated adjustments still do not stabilize the frame

Reassess structural limits and overall frame suitability.

GLANOS FITTING CHECK

GLANOS fitting check order

  1. Front
    Check the frame reference state.
  2. Nose pads / bridge
Determine the realistic adjustment range at the nose.
  3. Width
Compare total frame width with face width.
  4. Temple bend
Check whether the rear fit is compensating for a front problem.

CAUTION

Repeating fitting does not solve every problem

Continually forcing a frame beyond its adjustment range can add unnecessary stress to the hinges and front. Choosing a more suitable frame is sometimes part of good fitting judgment.
