Eyewear fitting does not make the face symmetrical. It balances the frame on an asymmetric face so lens position, comfort and visual appearance remain stable.

01 · EAR HEIGHT

The ears may not be at the same height

If one ear is slightly higher or lower, the temple support point changes.

Even identical temple angles can make one side of the front sit higher or lower, so ear height is a common factor in apparent tilt.

02 · NOSE POSITION

The nose center and left-right shape may also be asymmetric

A slightly deviated nose or different bridge shape on each side can influence frame centering.

Metal frames may allow some compensation through independent nose-pad adjustment, while plastic frames depend more on bridge design and fit.

03 · CHEEKBONE

Cheekbone height and projection can differ

A higher or more prominent cheekbone on one side can create unequal interference with the lower frame.

This becomes more noticeable with large frames or frames worn close to the cheeks.

04 · FACE WIDTH

The two sides of the head are not always identical either

If one temple area is more prominent, left-right side pressure can differ.

That pressure difference can affect frame position and comfort, so simply leveling the front does not solve every asymmetry.

05 · FITTING GOAL

The goal is not to make every frame part identical

After fitting, the two nose pads or temples may look slightly different and still be correct.

An asymmetric face may require small asymmetric adjustments to produce a balanced result.

Comfort, stable lens position and a natural visual appearance on the wearer are more important than bench-top symmetry.
